Welcome to the Electronics Workshop ( and now outreach ( combined ) ) development / demonstration site.
This is a very basic sketeton of a site with most of the code modules in place and working. I have added a few products from the electronics workshop archive to give you an idea of how the product pages may look. Now that the basics are up and running there is a lot that can be done very easily to change the look and feel of the site, for example, colour schemes and layouts. A navigation (menu) can also be added which could have shortcuts to common sets of search results thus giving 'product category' or 'product group' functionality.
The demo product / project pages can be found here.I would suggest looking at E-LC-DMX-0104 - Mini 4 Channel LED dimmer - DMX on the second page of results for an idea of how product pages could look (Some product pages may give a screen-full of errors as I am currently working with some of the template files)
QR Codes
As a bit of an aside to the website... Here is a demo of how the QR-Codes may work. Something similar to the 2D barcode shown below could be attached to any piece of equipment, when a suitably equipped smartphone is pointed at it, it will link directly to the product information page. What still needs to be done (this is not a complete list (neither is it very accurate))
- session, product, project... Lots of explanatory text to add to forms
- session... Remove some hard linked user side URIs to the config.php files
- swobjetcs... big ball should be link to homepage
- Remember search parameters between visits to the search page (to enable back-ness)
- Product... All lists that can be displayed in pages, only show page navigation when there is more than one page
- AJAX busy indication
